Editorial standards
Editorial policy
Last reviewed: . This policy describes how all content on this site is produced. It applies to every guide, explainer and article we publish.
The purpose of publishing this is simple: a reader should be able to judge our work rather than trust it. Everything below is a commitment you can check us against, and complain about if we fall short.
Read the rules before the writing
Most publications describe their standards vaguely, if at all. We would rather state ours precisely enough to be held to, because a reader who cannot check a claim has no real way to weigh it.
Everything below covers how sources are ranked, how figures are verified, how corrections are handled when we get something wrong, and what we will not publish regardless of how many people would read it.
Our editorial position
GreenValley publishes general educational information about how stock markets and listed companies work. We explain mechanics, describe documents and show methods. We do not recommend securities, publish price targets or forecasts, review portfolios, or tell readers what to buy, sell or hold. This boundary is not a restriction we work around — it is the definition of what we do, and it is why we can publish without knowing anything about the individual reading.
Who writes and reviews
All content is written and reviewed by our editor, Ava Thomas. Every published page carries a byline, a publication date and a review date. Where a page has been substantially updated, the review date changes and, for material changes, a note records what changed and when.
We do not publish content under invented names, and we do not present syndicated or third-party material as our own.
Source hierarchy
Sources are gathered in a fixed order of authority. Where sources conflict, the higher-ranked source wins, and we say so on the page rather than silently choosing.
| Rank | Source type | What it may be used for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Primary documents: annual reports, financial statements and notes, ASX and regulatory announcements, prospectuses, official notices | Any factual claim about a company, its figures, its disclosures or its obligations. This is the only evidence we accept for a number. |
| 2 | Our own worked examples, with the calculation shown | Demonstrating a method or arithmetic. Shown in full so a reader can reproduce it against the same source document. |
| 3 | Regulatory guidance, accounting standards, and peer-reviewed or published academic research | Explaining market rules, reporting requirements and how markets behave in aggregate. |
| 4 | Company investor-relations pages, promotional material and media summaries | Recording what a company or third party claims. Never used as evidence that a claim is accurate. |
We do not cite unattributed market rumour, social media commentary, or promotional material as a factual basis for anything. If a widely repeated claim has no document behind it, we either leave it alone or write about why it cannot be verified.
How a guide is checked before publication
- Step 1 — Trace every figure Each figure in a draft is matched to the specific document and page it came from. Page references are recorded and kept on file. A figure that cannot be traced is removed rather than softened.
- Step 2 — Re-perform every calculation Anything we compute from published data is recalculated from the source figures, independently of the original draft. An arithmetic error in a worked example teaches the wrong method with confidence, so calculations are not taken on trust.
- Step 3 — Check the qualifiers Passages drawn from company documents are compared against the original wording. Reporting language is carefully conditioned, and compressing it into something blunter changes its meaning. Where a company presents an adjusted figure alongside a statutory one, both are shown.
- Step 4 — Separate fact from interpretation Every sentence is classified as either a sourced fact or our interpretation. Interpretations are written as interpretations and labelled as such, so a reader can accept our facts while rejecting our reasoning.
- Step 5 — Read it as a beginner The draft is read by someone who did not write it, to find the points where the explanation assumes knowledge the reader may not have.
- Step 6 — Date and publish The guide is published with a publication date and a review date, so a reader can judge how current any description of a market rule or reporting standard is.
Corrections
We will make mistakes, particularly where market rules or reporting standards change after publication. Our approach is to correct openly rather than quietly.
- Confirmed factual errors are corrected on the page, with a dated note describing what was wrong.
- Where a correction changes the substance of a guide, the note appears at the top of the affected section rather than at the foot of the page.
- We do not silently delete or edit published claims. A reader who relied on something we published is entitled to know that it changed.
- Where a guide can no longer be made accurate — for example, where a market rule it describes has been replaced and no equivalent explanation exists — we withdraw it rather than leave it online.
To report an error, write to info@sanquankeji.com with the page address and what you observed. You will receive a reply, including a straight answer if we disagree with you and why.
Independence and commercial arrangements
Editorial decisions are made solely by our editor and are not subject to approval by any commercial party. Our only revenue source is the optional paid consultation described on our services page, which concerns research method and never reaches conclusions about specific securities.
The site currently carries no advertising, sponsored content, paid placements or affiliate links. We do not accept payment or any other consideration from an issuer, broker, fund manager or product provider to be covered, to be left uncovered, or to have critical material softened. If any commercial arrangement is introduced, it will be disclosed on our disclosure page and labelled clearly on the affected content before publication.
Use of software tools
We may use software, including language-model tools, for tasks such as locating sections of long documents, reformatting tables we have already extracted, or checking our own drafts for clarity. These tools are used as aids, not as sources. No figure, quotation or claim is published on the basis of a tool's output alone: every one is verified against the original document by a person before publication, and responsibility for the accuracy of published content rests with our editor.
What we decline to publish
- Buy, sell or hold recommendations, ratings, or "top pick" lists.
- Price targets, return forecasts, or any prediction of a security's future price.
- Statements of the form "now is a good time to invest", which are advice in substance regardless of how they are framed.
- Content about crypto assets, options and derivatives strategies, forex, or penny stocks.
- Any material that presents unverifiable promotional claims as fact.
